Tacrine potently inhibits acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. It also inhibits both human and rat histamine-N-methyltransferase in a dose-dependent manner. Tacrine is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Inhibits L-type calcium channels and decreases the influx of calcium in mouse neurons.
